Teeny tiny ants

Every spring, we get an influx of those itsy bitsy ants, primarily in our kitchen. They are seasonal, and they fade away (usually with the help of ant traps).

Do you have any advice or remedies to get rid of these little suckers? I need something curious-kitty-cat friendly!

We had an influx of ants on our honeymoon on the porch of the cabin in which we were staying. We sprayed 'em off with a water hose. I don't suggest that in your kitchen, though. :)

We got those little sugar ants all of the time in LA...I just sprayed Raid bug spray, but I am not so sure that is kitty friendly!
